Tely Labs is a newly formed startup with the intention of deploying new video conferencing hardware into the competitive consumer market. Along with developing a powerful branded statement, the device would now offer full video streaming to the home user in a single device solution.

The brand language was to achieve a unique yet simple visual identity while still blending well together with a modern flat television. The resulting Tely HD became a simple elliptical form with a finish that complemented the environment.

Tely Labs is a pioneer in developing simple, affordable next generation entertainment and communications systems that fundamentally change the way consumers communicate across the globe. Tely HD delivers full HD Skype video calling to an HD TV allowing consumers to do video calls on a big screen TV with high-definition clarity.

Data collected on the dimensions, shapes and materials used in a wide range of home televisions influenced the mounting and integration to the TV. Matrixes and scale drawings were drafted and final concepts were brainstormed and tested for adaptability, simplicity, and stability. The result was a product that attaches confidently atop a variety of flat screen televisions or shelves.

As an accessory to the flat screen television in your home, the simple yet super flexible foot and TV mount was paramount to produce at a low cost which was ultimately produced for less than five dollars. The resulting Tely HD became a simple elliptical form with a finish that complemented the environment. The addition of high quality detailing such as a camera bezel reminiscent of a classic 35mm adds confidence to the design.

The criteria for success required a thin wall – highly polished black housing, a low screw count, only plastic molded parts, addressing simple assembly and acoustic management. All this was accomplished with simple shutoff molds with no slides. The camera privacy door, end cap speaker cover assembly, and friction fit lever were all tested with FEA. Innovative manufacturing concepts were also introduced to the main housing, base, and mount and tilt mechanism to help keep part costs down.
